In Estoi, an 18-panel Sharp solar array feeds into an LG ESS 8kW hybrid inverter paired with an LG ESS 16kWh battery, giving this household both solar generation and stored energy under one integrated system. Because the inverter and battery come from the same LG ESS line, they’re designed to work together natively, without the compatibility gaps that can arise when pairing components from different manufacturers, simplifying both the installation and the system’s long-term maintenance.
The battery is the key addition here: rather than sending surplus daytime solar straight to the grid, the system stores it for use later, in the evening or on lower-sun days, reducing reliance on grid electricity outside daylight hours. This is especially valuable in the Algarve, where more than 300 days of sunshine a year mean solar production is consistently high, while evening and nighttime consumption still needs to be covered.
With 18 panels feeding an 8kW inverter and 16kWh of storage, the system is sized to capture and hold a substantial share of the property’s daily solar output, giving the homeowner a meaningful degree of energy independence from the grid.
