This 30kW installation in Vimieiro pairs 40 Sharp solar panels with a Kostal PIKO CI 30 inverter and a Kostal KSEM smart energy meter, sized to support a property with substantial daytime electricity demand, including an Uplive pool heat pump. Pool heat pumps are among the more energy-intensive appliances in a home, typically running for extended periods to maintain water temperature, which makes pairing one with a solar system of this scale a natural fit: the panels’ peak output during the day lines up closely with when the heat pump is drawing the most power.
The Kostal PIKO CI 30 is built for exactly this kind of larger-scale residential or light-commercial setup, converting the output of 40 panels efficiently while the KSEM smart energy meter tracks generation and consumption in real time, giving a clear view of how much of that solar production is going directly toward running the pool heat pump versus other household use.
With the Algarve’s more than 300 days of sunshine a year, a system of this size is well placed to keep both the home and the pool running on solar power for the large majority of the year.
